As much as I tried and hoped I did not go into labor on my own and made it all the way to my induction date. I worked my last day on Tuesday and on Wednesday my family came. We went to Costco, out to dinner and ice cream, played games and then waited. I have was not induced with Addi so I did not know what to expect. The OB office had told me that the hospital would call any time between midnight Wednesday to midnight on Thursday night. We waited up until midnight and had a large discussion debating who should call the hospital to see if I could come in. Finally, after losing said argument, I called and they said there was no way I was going to come in before 5 so I should get some sleep. I slept pretty well for a few hours. They called around six. Will, Robin and I hoped in the car and drove right over.
I got all hooked up with Pitocin and we waited. It took awhile for my epidural and I was not a fan of that. Finally got the epidural and they broke my water. But I was still only dilated to a three at noon. My body is rather slow at having babies even with lots of Pitocin. My parents brought Addi by on their way to the splash pad. She was a little stand offish and shy. Finally around 3:30 I was fully dilated. I pushed a few times and Jack was born at 3:45. He weighed 7 lbs. 5 oz and was 19.5 inches long. I honestly don’t remember much about right after (that’s the probably about blogging 5 months after) except that it was great. Jack was perfect. The delivery went fine. He was a snuggly, perfect little baby that we absolutely loved.
We called my parents to come over with Addi to meet Jack. She had to be woken up from her nap which was probably a bad idea because she was slightly grumpy and not overly excited to meet her brother. Mostly the grandparents held Jack and Addi was entertained by Robin.
If you are wondering what my father is doing with the cell phone in one hand and Jack in the other he is playing him “Summer Time” by Mungo Jerry. During that month he was obsessed with that song and he was teaching Jack all about good music.
We were able to go home a little over 24 hours after Jack was born. It was much different then Addison. Before, I was so tired and in pain and did not want to move. This time I was up and showered in the morning and ready to go. I am glad. When Addi and my parents came back to help us leave Addi was much more excited about Jack.
We love this little man and he makes our family complete!
