Some Saturdays we are super productive. We work on the yard, do laundry, clean the house, take naps in beds and tackle a project. Other Saturdays we do none of these things and just play. Today was one of those days. We left at eight with the intent to just do some garage sale shopping and then head home and be productive. We garage saled our selves over to Kneaders and had some delicious french toast. Then since we were one that side of town we did the monthly Home Depot project at that Home Depot. Addi made a little crayon holder/cart and got to paint it. She loves these craft days at Home Depot because she gets to use her favorite tool "the knocker” (hammer).
On the way home we drove past the Nissan dealership and Will decided to get the CVT fluid flushed before our trip this week. We played Barrel of Monkeys (yard sale buy) lots of times, looked at cars and then I wound up on Facebook. While on Facebook I saw that someone had posted something about picking cherries in Hurricane. After some research we found the address and decided that was the next stop.
Addi fell asleep on the way over to the house to grab buckets and took a little nap in the car ride over. The beginning of cherry picking was quite hilarious. We didn’t have a ladder and the bottoms of the trees where pretty picked over. Will lifted Addi up to reach them and that worked but she picked cherries about as slow as a dead turtle so that wasn’t really going to work.
The next idea was for me to get on Will’s shoulders. This was quite the hilarious (sadly no pictures). Luckily no one was permanently injured and cherries where picked successfully. We went a little crazy with the cherry picking and ended up with over 12 pounds. On the way home we came across a wood fire pizza place on the side of the road and it was amazing. I begged Will to go back and buy another but he was being difficult.
We walked in the door, changed into swim suits and left again. This was the first time this summer that Addi has been in a pool. Again, she is fearless. While running in the water she would after fall and go under for a few seconds. She would pop right back up and not be at all bothered that she nearly drowned. We taught her how to plug her nose and hold her breath under water. This may have been a bad thing because now she really thought she had nothing stopping her. The most favorite activity was to plug her nose jump up and then sit in under water for a few seconds. Will didn’t think she needed swimming lessons this soon but seeing that she has no fear he decided that it might be a good idea to teach her a few things before she just decides to jump in the deep end.
We finished the day off with a movie night and reading books. Such a fun day to spend with the family. Now someone just needs to come do the laundry and clean the house!
