Lost in translation

I was at work yesterday and was attempting to clean the teeth of a 5 year old boy I will call Joe.  The following is our conversation.
Me: Joe, how many times do you brush your teeth?
Joe: 17
Me: Well good, we need to brush two times a day.  If we don't brush our teeth then cavity bugs can live on our teeth.
Joe: I hate bugs, one time I squished this really big one.
Me: Oh, wow.  We dont want to get cavitiy bugs on our teeth because they can make black holes in our teeth and that makes them not healthy.
Joe: You have cabities.
Me: Um, no I dont have cavities because I brush my teeth.
Joe: Yea you have lots of cabities.  (he lifts up a piece of my very dark hair)  See cabities.
Me: No, cavities are on your teeth.
Joe: I have brown cabities (he points to his hair), my sister has yellow cabities.
Me: Joe we brush our teeth to keep them clean and white.
Joe: My dog has white teeth and he does not brush..... Birds dont have teeth.
Me: Well Joe, here is your toothbrush, use it on your teeth.

I wonder what he told his Mom he learned after this very informative appointment.

Gotta love kids! The other day I was running short on time and I had to prophy a little kid and I forgot to floss. When we got done and her mom was paying she said "yeah Mom, she didn't even floss my teeth!" I felt awesome.
