1st Camping Failure

Will's friend Tom along with his wife Christy and two kids came down to come camping.  Me and Will have only been camping once since we have been married and I would not technically call it camping.  It was at a family reunion and all we had to do was sleep and show up for the food that was made.
Our first true camping adventure was going to be amazing. We had grand plans.  We had all the food planned; we borrowed a dutch ovens and a sun oven from my aunt. We had our tent and gear packed and ready.  We went to the campground and it was full.  My husband, not to be defeated, went and had a chat with the campground host.  She was from Idaho; Will and her created some bond or something and gave him her "special reserved spot."  Once we got the secret place we unpacked all the gear.  Our camp was looking pretty sweet. Our tent was up on a little hill behind some trees, the fire was going, some Styx was playing on Will's radio and we had enough food to feed the entire campground.

Me and Christy began or hobo dinners by chopping up the veggies and wrapping them up.  Will taught Tom how to "properly" cook hobo dinners and they turned out amazingly delicious.  I love hobo dinners; and we even remembered the ketchup!   After dinner we cleaned up and Will made some peach cobbler which was also delicious.

Once the kids where in bed the adults sat around the fire talking, and roasting marshmallows.  Then the wind hit.  Huge gust of wind that threw camp chairs into the fire and scattered drinks around the site.  We gave up on trying to tie down everything so we went and threw it in the cab of the truck.  The kids woke up so we went on a bathroom run and decided it was time for bed.

We got into the tent and I could not get comfortable.  I laid there for about two hours trying to entertain myself.  Then the wind returned.  It was blowing the tent so hard that the top of the tent was flat against me as I tried to sleep.  I was sure that the top thing that goes on the tent was going to blow away.  It was constantly flapping and ripping.  I got used to the ridiculous wind and was actually beginning to get comfortable when the my stomach started hurting.  I felt like I was going to throw up at any second.  At this point Will finally woke up. I told him of my issues and he decided to run me home (which is like ten minutes away).  We snuck out of camp and went home.  Once there he decided to lay down with me for just a second.  Next thing I know its 7:00 and Will is still sleeping next to me.  We look outside and found that it had poured rain.  I felt bad for leaving Tom, Christy and the kids alone with no help and no phone.  Will jumped out of bed and went to help them pack up. When he got there everything was blown all over the place and covered in mud.  Will and Tom got everything packed up and then placed it on the lawn to dry.
After everyone's nap we decided to try the Sun Oven since we had not been able to do it the night before.  I set it up on the lawn and it started heating up.  Once I put the cookies in, of course, the clouds came.  After the cookies had been in the oven for an hour I gave up.
Me and Will determine this camping adventure a true failure.  However we say that we will try again.
