Life/family planning is an oxymoron. You can plan all you want and life will do what it was going to do anyways. For example one year ago we planned on getting pregnant. I had maternity insurance. Well nothing ever happened. I got a new job and had to get their insurance which had no maternity coverage. We contemplated getting separate insurance just for maternity but figured since nothing had happened in a year nothing would. We also decided that this would be a good time to look for a house. We started looking and lost my maternity coverage. In October I found out I had a giant ovarian cyst. If it did not go away on its own I would have to be put on birth control (which I did not want to do) or I would have to have it surgically removed. Four weeks later I went to have it checked and it was magically gone but I was still having the pain. In the middle of all this we found a house that we wanted to get. We put in the offer and hoped they would accept it. Friday morning I took a pregnancy test expecting the normal result (I seriously take at least one a month). But instead of negative this time it was positive Remember that this was about six in the morning and I was still very sleepy and slightly in shock. Instead of being super cute and telling Will in a special way and I just said "hey, wake up, I'm pregnant". He was slightly in shock too so we headed off to work. Later that day we found out that the sellers had accepted our offer. I was just slightly overwhelmed with everything that day. Apparently getting pregnant is the sure fire way to get rid of ovarian cysts!
After four very overwhelming weeks, me feeling sick all the time and always tired we finally started to get excited about everything Excited about a new baby, new house and the direction our family is headed. Come to find out non insurance babies aren't as expensive as we thought if you do it smartly. We can handle this we have decided.
The first OB appointment we could not even see the baby, which was slightly concerning. Just last week we had another one and there was the baby doing just fine. Apparently I was off on my dates and I was not as far along as we had originally thought. It was nice to have that confirmation that everything was ok and that the baby looks good.
Addi took a while to finally understand what was going on. I should her this ultrasound and she looks at it, then looks at me and says "rawr, monster". She was convinced for a few days that there was a monster and not a baby inside my tummy. She now is excited and likes to show people the pictures of the baby in mommas tummy. However she does think that her and Will also have babies in their tummies.........
