Veterans Day
I love this country. I love the freedoms that we have. I love our flag; how amazing and powerful it looks flying in the wind. I love the pride for this country that so many have.
I am thankful to all that have served this country to protect all the things that I love and hold dear. So many people have sacrificed their lives so that I can enjoy the things that I do today.
Many in my family have served our country. Both of my grandfathers, my dad and many cousins and uncles have served our country. I am so proud that so many in my family have served.
My baby brother, Chase, is currently at the Air Force Academy. I was able to attend my brothers "graduation" from basic training at the Air Force Academy. Hundreds of cadets filled the parade field and together they recited this the Air Force Creed.
I am an American Airman.
I am a Warrior.
I have answered my Nation's Call.
I am an American Airman.
My mission is to Fly, Fight, and Win.
I am faithful to a Proud Heritage,
A Tradition of Honor ,
And a Legacy of Valor.
I am an American Airman.
Guardian of Freedom and Justice,
My Nation's Sword and Shield,
Its Sentry and Avenger.
I defend my Country with my Life.
I am an American Airman
Wingman, Leader, Warrior.
I will never leave and Airman behind,
I will never falter,
And I will not fail.
After hearing this creed and seeing Chase having his boards put on I could not help but be a little emotional. I am proud that he (and all others in the armed forces) are willing to put everything on the line for me and my country.
One of Chase's favorite quotes he has learned in the Air Force:
Without a word this uniform also whispers of freezing troops, injured bodies, and Americans left forever in foreign fields.
It documents every serviceman’s courage, who by accepting this uniform, promises the one gift he truly has to give: his life.
I wear my uniform for the heritage of sacrifice it represents and more. I wear my uniform with pride, for it represents the greatest nation of free people in the world
-Captain Karen Dorman Kimmel
Thank you to every person who has served our country. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten.
